Tapee Tea, otherwise known as Tepee or Thephi Tea ☕ is an ancient Thai natural pain relieving tea, composed of a variety of native herbs. It has been administered in Thailand and much of Asia for centuries as a method for relieving aches and pains, its especially popular with women that suffer from period cramps and pains and sufferers of age-related joint issues, such as gout, arthritis and lower back pain.
There is no “official” recipe for Tapee Tea. It’s origins are unknown but likely very old and the recipe would have been passed from healer to healer by word of mouth. Each healer or person or family may have adapted it slightly to their liking or based on the plants they had available. All agree however that the recipe should have some staples and follow some guidelines in terms of the ingredients used and their effects. The differences between the two recipes are in the quantities of certain herbs used, the variations of herbs used and the amounts of herbs used. Most of the herbs/plants used come from the same family of plants but can be different variations. For example, the new recipe sticks to Thai native herbs and uses Thai Black Ginger as one of its ingredients, whereas the original deviates from only Thai herbs and uses Ginseng instead.

Due to the mix of 15 different native herbs, spices and plantsTapee Tea can have quite an acquired, powerful taste that some may enjoy whilst others might not. It is an earthy, herbal taste.

The aroma is one of menthol, this is due to the Siamese Cardamom present in the tea which is otherwise known as Camphor and often used in many other traditional (and clinical) medicines and remedies.

The color is a brown/red. The red comes from the presence of Sappanwood, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory with a hugely versatile range of medicinal properties.

You can read more about each individual ingredient here.

No, Tapee Tea is caffeine free. Some of the ingredients however, such as Thai Black Galingale are known for their energizing effects, though these come naturally and without the side effects of synthetic caffeine. Tapee Tea is considered by many to make the drinker feel more youthful rather than how a caffeinated drink might give one a burst of energy, followed by a crash.

Tapee Tea has been used for generations in Thailand and Asia as a fast-acting, natural pain relieving remedy. Traditionally it is considered to help treat joint pains and aches, especially those that are age or physical activity related. It’s also used to help with kidney and liver problems and is thought to be a powerful hangover remedy, perhaps due to its detoxifying properties and beneficial effects on the digestive system and uric acid levels. It is also used to help with stomach cramps, particularly those caused by the menstrual cycle.

If you find that you suffer from any of the above, we’d definitely recommend giving Tapee Tea a try as a natural, alternative solution.

Keep in mind however that this is not medical advice and one should always consult with a physician before trying any new remedies.

Every person has their own unique, individual biochemistry and this means that everybody reacts differently to certain substances, including herbs and spices.

There are no reported side effects from drinking Tapee Tea, however one must always take care when trying new foods, drinks and medicines.

Tapee Tea is made using 15 different Thai native herbs and spices and it’s possible that one of these may cause an allergic reaction in some people. If you notice any unexpected side effects after drinking Tapee Tea, we recommend ceasing use immediately.

Always drink Tapee Tea in moderation, the recommended dosage is 1 cup per day.

Absolutely! We do offer Tapee Tea in wholesale volumes at discounted pricing. You can read more here or reach out to us at support@coconutislandco.com

Besides the obvious (one is a sachet, one is a teabag), there is no difference to the recipe, experience or intended effects.

Some customers may prefer the teabag form as the taste is weaker and there is less mess. Teabags contain 2g of Tapee Tea and come in packs of 30. Sachets contain 3g of Tapee Tea and come in packs of 25.

It’s all of them! They’re the same, just different English translations of the Thai word. The Thai language has 72 letters and translations for Thai words into English are usually based on the sound they make, so you often end up with many different spellings for the same thing!

Technically, the English translation for the product approved by the Thai FDA is “Thephi Herbal Drink”, the more commonly known however is “Tapee Tea” and they are the same thing.

Some Tapee Tea products have been found to contain synthetic adulterants, including steroids. This is why it is important to buy only from a trusted source.

The Coconut Island Company is the exclusive seller of the ONLY Tapee Tea in existance that is produced with approval from the FDA in Thailand. Our Tapee Tea is tested regularly by the Thai Dept of Medical Sciences and ourselves for the presence of synthetic ingredients. Test results can be found here.

We also stock an at home steroid test that is easy to use and designed by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization of Thailand specifically for testing for the presence of steroids in traditional medicines.

Tapee Tea is an ancient herbal remedy from Thailand, naturally over the years and from one town to another the recipe can differ slightly, but it follows some sacred staples.

There is only one version of Tapee Tea that is produced under approval of the FDA in Thailand and there is only one one seller of this Tapee TeaCoconut Island Company.

This is important as has been found by the FDA in both Thailand and the USA, other unregistered Tapee Tea products exist and have been adulterated with potentially dangerous synthetic ingredients, including steroids.

This tea really works

This tea has almost gotten rid of my chronic joint pain. I recommend the tea bags rather than the loose tea. Tastes better and easier to use. Definitely recommend for pain relief!

Never received my order

I just received an email saying “ We heard that your Coconut Island Co order arrived successfully - yay! That makes us super happy.
We hope you've been enjoying your purchase so far?” But I’ve never actually received it. Very disappointed because I emailed customer service telling them I might have made a mistake and never gave them my unit number and customer service said they can’t do anything since they’ve already shipped the package. I said why would they ship a package if it had an incomplete address, they did say it’s my responsibility. Ok I thought to myself that’s fair. I went back and looked at my order and I actually did put my unit number on the address. The package never took this long before in my previous orders I am so upset because this tea is amazing. It is really bitter to receive an email that says I’ve received my order when I never did. This is sad

I've been taking this tea every day for well over a year. Within 3 days of starting it I have not had a single flare up from sciatic nerve pain. I was on Gabapentin and could barely walk. This tea has totally cured me of any pain.

Helps with pain

Surprisingly, this tea helps with pain. I was told the tea helps with pain, and it does! The taste is not bad either. Just make certain to stir while drinking because the loose tea settles.
